Colour Film, B&W Chemicals

Took a drive up to Portsdown Hill that overlooks Portsmouth Harbour last Friday, I wanted to try something different for 08/08/08 so I shot a roll of colour film and then developed it using my normal B&W chemicals. Some interesting results. I'm going back up there soon with my new zoom lens and see what I can see from that perspective.

Essex

Just spent a long weekend back in the Motherland that is Essex. I think I must have taken about 350 photos in 3 days. Very productive but not surprising considering I skated a ditch in the middle of the countryside, went to a wedding, walked around Danbury Hill, Bicknacre's Priory Fields and a hill in South Woodham which as well as having a wood with more lightning trees than I've ever seen before it is also a home to a radar test station. Waiting for film to come back from the lab and then I'll start updating the galleries with the last few month's photos, it's been a busy summer already.

Holga Multiples

I recently sent off an old medium format film I had shot with my Holga ages ago to get developed. I got it back yesterday and I'm really happy with some of the photos. The following are a few multiple exposures from a winter's day skate in Sudbury, I must have been feeling the red filter for some reason.

Holga & 35mm

This weekend I finally finished my conversion of my Holga camera so it would take 35mm film. I went on a short bike ride by the railway tracks testing it out with some B&W film before returning home to develop it. I think I'm going to use it a lot more through the summer. There are a few more up in my Flickr.

Expired

I've recently been using a load of different expired film and got back from the lab a load of rolls taken on some Southsea exploration bike rides, the Frankfurt trip, Brian Jonestown Massacre and other odds and sods. Very stoked with the results which will be flooding here, Life of Sundays and Curb Debris for the coming weeks.

Below is a couple of photos from an awesome park sculpture in the centre of Frankfurt.

from the air

The trip to Frankfurt was amazing, so many good people, so much sick skating, so many photos. Got some rolls back from the lab and my initial worries about the expired and untested colour film were totally unfounded, this film is amazing. Another box of 20 on order already.

This is the city of London. We flew in and out of City Airport, the route has amazing views of both London and the town of my birth, Southend-on-Sea, check Curb Debris for the aerial photos of Southend.

Airports

Off to Frankfurt for the weekend, I really enjoy the whole airport and flying experience so I'm looking forward to that too, plus taking a load of photos. See you Monday with a hangover.

The Point

The point is a spur of land pointing in to Portsmouth harbour that for 100s of years was the place where sailors would come for beer and trouble, the city would even pull up a drawbridge at night back in the day to let them just get on with it and leave the rest of the city in peace. These days the old pubs are now no longer covered in sawdust, blood and troublesome 1700s sailors but are tourist pubs selling amazing food and booze that you can drink on the harbour wall.

These hand developed film photos were from a Saturday bike ride which seems to always end in drinks at the point at some stage. A very good thing.
